HIM's Role in Getting Meaningful Use Incentives

To qualify for incentive payments from Medicare and Medicaid under the HITECH Act, provider organizations must document meaningful use of electronic health records. That will require the collecting, organizing and reporting of initially 20 measures of meaningful use for eligible professionals and 19 measures for hospitals, with more measures coming in 2013 and 2015.
