RxCOMPASS reports generated gains of more than 1,800 prescription refills and net revenues of $171,000 at six American Pharmacies (APRx) member pharmacies over a 33-week period, while five other APRx pharmacies realized significant gains in refills and increased revenues by $108,000 in just 16 weeks. Those were the findings of two studies on the efficacy of the business intelligence reporting tool powered by myDataMart from FDS, Inc. that were released by the member-owned buying cooperative at its annual shareholder meeting, which took place in June in San Antonio, Texas.

Digital health startups draw record investments in the first half of 2017

During the first half of this year, digital health startups raised more money than ever, with 188 digital health deals and $3.5 billion invested, according to a new report. If financing continues at this clip, 2017 will see $2.7 billion more in investments than last year, when there was $4.3 billion invested.

University of Virginia Medical Center Signs Long-term Contract with LogicStream Health

A healthy patient who was expected to make a full recovery from a routine surgical procedure is found dead in bed from an unintentional opiod overdose. Another patient developed severe internal hemorrhaging and a near-fatal infection caused by a surgical sponge that was mistakenly left inside the patient’s abdominal cavity. These and other disturbing medical mistakes are also referred to as Never Events — and for an obvious reason — they should never happen.
