Kinetic Analysis Appoints Steven Stichter CEO
SILVER SPRING, M.D. – (Dec. 27, 2012) –Kinetic Analysis Corp., a leader in multi-model impact forecasting and risk assessment for catastrophic events, has appointed Steven Stichter as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Stichter replaces Jan Vermeiren, who will now serve as the company’s board chairman.
As CEO, Stichter will draw on more than a decade of experience in regional planning and development related to natural hazards and coastal management to position Kinetic Analysis for growth. In his previous role as the company’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), Stichter managed implementation and operation of the real-time impact forecasting system, as well as execution of complex hazard and loss risk assessment projects.
“We have been fortunate to be able to draw upon Steven’s expertise over the past six years and look forward to his leadership as this next chapter of the company’s strategic road map unfolds,” said Vermeiren. “He has the vision and focus needed to build upon our innovative platform and expand our reach into new markets, arming a broader client base with more accurate real-time knowledge of the impact of extreme natural events and a deeper understanding of long-term, catastrophe risk.”
Stichter brings to his role a unique perspective gained from his work as both a client and a service provider. As a project manager with the OAS Unit for Sustainable Development and the Environment, he engaged Charles Watson Jr., founder of Kinetic Analysis, to produce detailed hazard mapping for several multi-year projects supporting natural hazard mitigation in the Caribbean. Previous positions include work in economic development for the government of the District of Columbia and in coastal management for the State of North Carolina.
While at the OAS, Stichter and Vermeiren were lead authors of Natural Hazard Risk Management in the Caribbean: Revisiting the Challenge, commissioned by the World Bank for the 2002 meeting of the Consultative Group for Caribbean Economic Development. He holds a master’s degree in regional planning.
“Kinetic Analysis is poised to experience considerable growth, and I am honored to have been chosen to guide the company to even greater success,” said Stichter. “Currently on the cutting edge of the industry, our real-time analysis and depth of knowledge help our clients better understand the risks associated with natural hazards and their catastrophic impacts. This empowers them to make the informed decisions necessary to manage and minimize risk.”
